Buccaneers quarterback Matt Simms
Simms has a long and storied family history. His father, Chris, was a Tampa Bay Buccaneer, and his brother, Matt, is a former Buffalo Bill. Both Simms brothers have played quarterback in the NFL. Matt is the younger brother of former Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms. His father is also an accomplished artist whose works are included in the National Football League Hall of Fame.
Simms played for the Buffalo Bills in 2015 and the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, where he was a practice squad player. However, he was injured during the preseason and was released by the Falcons. Simms has yet to start a game since his release from Atlanta.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Simms was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third draft round. Simms played for the Buccaneers for two seasons before signing with the Denver Broncos in 2006. He spent his rookie year on the bench and began to work his way up the depth chart. In his second season, he started twelve games, and a year later, he earned the starting job.
Simms signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and played four games with the New York Jets as a backup to Geno Smith and Mike Vick. In 2015, Simms was released by the Bills and signed with the Falcons’ practice squad. Although he’ll have to compete with Schaub and rookie Alex Torgersen for the backup job, his NFL dream is still alive.
Simms is a prominent sports personality and a former NFL player. He has been featured on Showtime’s Inside The NFL since 2008. He also co-hosts the Mad Dog Radio show on SiriusXM during the NFL season. His son Chris Simms is a controversial NBC Sports analyst.
In addition to playing quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Simms has also been an analyst for Fox Sports. He served as the lead NFL analyst for the network’s coverage of the Super Bowl and Football Night in America. He’s also a color analyst for the NFL on CBS. During his NFL career, Simms consulted for several television networks and made his broadcast booth debut with FOX Sports in August 2013.
